Nevada: Boundary Peak

Elevation: 13140 ft
Getting There:

Located in the White Mountains just on the border of California and Nevada Boundary Peak sits next to its more prominent neighbor Montgomery Peak in California. The route taken was the Queen Canyon Mine Route. It is very remote and hard to find if you aren’t looking for it.  From highway 6 going east from the California state line about 2.5 – 3 miles and take a right on an unnamed dirt road. You will take this road out for a couple miles until you get to an old mine up in the mountain side. You can continue from there if you have a truck or 4wheel drive, if not you can park there and start hiking.

Where I ended up parking a little past the mine.

Started about sunrise just above the old mine. The terrain is rocky with scrubby, acient looking bristlecone pines

Getting close to the first ridge that leads to the base of Boundary Peak

A vivid view on Boundary Peak looking toward the summit. From here it is a steep scree scramble.

A view back towards the ridge to get to Boundary Peak. You can see forever.

Summit of Boundary Peak on a most perfect day.
